Home from the Hospital!

Good news for the moment.  My band has not slipped that he can see from the Upper GI BUT he removed all my fluid and will leave it unfilled for 4 weeks.  At that time, I am going to have an endoscopy and it will be at this point that he will start to refill the band if he finds no problems.

He said I have a lot of swelling and when I told him the events leading up to this day, he agrees that my "pork chop" incident on Tuesday night is probably the cause of the swelling.  I confessed to him that I eat too fast...no question about it.  He explained that he understands that it must be hard to change a lifetime habit but it is IMPERATIVE to eat slow and chew, chew, chew.

So, for the next 4 weeks, I will be flying without a net.  I have so much on the line right now that I cannot afford even a little slip-up.  I have to keep my calories to 1200/day and continue to eat portion sizes as if I still had my band filled and eat slowly.  He told me to keep my exercising up (he kept telling me how tiny I am!), watch the calories and protein and most of all to keep my carbs under 100 per day.  He has said from day one that people like me (and probably a lot of you) who fight obesity have severe carb addictions.  He says I will be able to handle having no restriction in my band for 4 weeks and not gain and probably will continue to lose if I really watch those carbs.

I can and will do this.  Nothing is getting between me and my goal of losing this weight.  If it takes a little longer, so be it.  I realize I will probably gain a few lbs over the next few days due to being able to drink, ahhhhh water, and eat again, but that will be short-lived.  Goodbye 157 but i will see you again very soon!  I am a woman on a mission AND a mother-of-the-bride who is going to be sizzling hot, in a motherly way of course, on her daughters wedding day!

Wish me luck and thank you all for your caring and concerned comments these past few days!

I am so glad you didn' have a slip. Good luck over the next 4 weeks. It is certainly a challenge when you find yourself without restriction but I know you can do it!

I am so glad that you are feeling better. And you will NOT gain. I know it. You have the wedding to look forward to. I too believe in the carb addiction.

No hot-dogs for you. You know those No Yooork ones. I miss your pronunciation of that. Just eat healthy and the swelling will go down. Drink up. Water of course. I swear you will not gain a hundred pounds in a week. Really.

I'm glad things went well in that you don't have a slip. I understand being scared - I was unfilled for a week once and was really scared. I know it's not a month, but I will say that I didn't feel like I could like "normal" when I was unfilled. I still felt a little restriction. I know you can get through the month.

I am so glad that you are ok. Just remember that you didn't get to your highest weight in a month, so this breather will be good for your body in that you are preventing a slip. I also have the eating too fast problem. I try really hard, but now my husband coaches me at the table. Chew, Chew. I really want to slap him sometimes. I have really been thinking of you today. I have been sick and my band is tighter than it ever has been and I have barely been able to get anything in. I totally feel for you!

You can totally do it. Keeping the carbs lower is a good idea. But not too low, you need energy to exercise! So sorry you are having these problems. I know it sucks. But you are awesome and you will get through this!

I'm so relieved that the band did not slip! Thanks also for sharing what your doc's carb recommendation was - I'll pay attention to that myself. The good news is that 'net' is going to be back for you in 4 weeks - its not coming out permanently b/c your band slipped! You can do this!!

Thank God it's not a slip, you can do this, it's a great opportunity for some healing and to see that good habits are now in place. Hang in there!

So happy to hear you are on your way to feeling better. You will totally be able to handle the next 4 weeks. I couldn't do it, but you've had so much success that this little blip won't phase you.
