Its Wednesday already?

This week is flying! I have my doctors appointment tomorrow to go over the results of my CT Scan of my ankle from 2 weeks ago. I was told in June that I have 3 choices: 1. live with the pain, 2. cortisone shot or 3. surgery. I chose cortisone. Up until a month ago I felt like I had a brand new ankle. Not a hint of pain! About a month ago, out of the blue, BAM! pain is back big time. This went on for 2 or 3 days and that was it. I have had a few occurances of "oh crap, its coming back" but than it disappears again. I am hoping he is able to give me another shot as I really do not want to get side-lined by surgery right now. I feel like that would really derail me as I depend on my exercising to lose weight!

I spent 45 minutes this morning with my trainer than did a 45 minute spin class. It wiped me out but it felt good at the same time. I have finally realized that I need to exercise....when i do, I feel good the rest of the day!

My eating today was as follows:

b - S.E.I Max protein chocolate coconut shake w/ skim milk
s - banana
l - Chobani Plain non-fat yogurt with Kashi cereal
s - slice of turkey and slice of swiss cheese
d - 1/2 cup rice with marinara sauce and a poached egg

total calories - 919
total protein - 83g

Tuesday Ramblings & Pics

I am starting to feel "back to normal" today! Yay! I go to my spin class in a little while and I can actually say I missed it this weekend! Never in my life would I have thought I could "miss" exercise. Don't get me wrong, I went to the gym in Chicago AND I did the 5k but it wasn't my routine. I love traveling but it always throws me off and I crave my routine.

I am addicted to those True Orange/Lime/Lemon packets that were in our goody bags! So good. I have never seen these here and will be looking where I can get them as I am down to my last one. Anyone know where I can get them?

As I said yesterday, I didn't gain or lose during the 4 days I was in Chicago. While I was not over-eating in any way shape or form, I was not eating as good as I do at home. That being said, yesterday I was back to my 80g of protein and my calories were 900. The scale rewarded me with a 2 lb drop from last weeks weigh-in. I'll take that!

Here are some more pics from Chicago! Enjoy!

Have you heard about Boob's?

LOL! What a weekend my friends. To meet a lot of you FOR REAL...live and in person was the most surreal experience of my life! Seriously...I mean that. I felt like I was dreaming and many of my blog friends were in my dreams. I already can't wait to do it again!

The planning committee for this weekend were out of this world, Kagead, Jen, Draz, Steph, Joey, Linda & Sarah!!! Thank you for all your hard work! A great time was had by all.

Meeting Catherine, Amy and Sarah (actually, I met Sarah over the summer) were one of the many highlights of the weekend. Those three, in that order, were the beginning of my journey. Through them, I found all of you! Hanging out with Band-Babe, Tessie, Miss Vickie and hello! how about my great roomie and travel companion...Stephanie!!!! (love her!) was so unbelievable! Just being with EVERYONE, makes me feel more committed than ever...there were women in all stages of the journey and I love every one of you!

I will post pics from my other computer tomorrow, I promise! I just wanted to check in and catch up on all your blogs. I've missed reading them while away.

Good news on the scale this morning...no weight gained and no weight lost! Thats cool though...I ate my way through Chicago!

Car Show and BBQ for dinner!

For the first time, Steve is taking his car to a car show tonight. You know the kind....a bunch of old guys in a parking lot with their rods! The only reason I am going is because it is in a parking lot of a BBQ restaurant and I love BBQ Baby Back Ribs! Yea!

I went to the gym this morning and had my session with my trainer and then had to run to the lab for a blood test so unfortunately, I didn't make it to my spin class! In a million years, I never thought I would feel bad about missing exercise but I do. I have one more shot at it tomorrow at 6:30 and you can bet I won't miss that! I really love spinning....I can easily burn 500 - 700 calories each time and I feel like I get more burn than other classes. I am hoping to make it to the hotels gym on Friday morning too.

b- S.E.I. Chocolate protein shake
l- tuna with mayo/onion with 4 trisket crackers
d - ribs & coleslaw

So far, my total calories for the day are 742 and my calories at the gym were 342.

I plan on packing tonight and cannot wait to see my Steph tomorrow and the rest of you on Friday!

Todays Agenda

Hmmm....woke up at 5 a.m. to go to the gym for my 6 a.m. training session and had a surprise visit from Aunt Flo! Possibly, this is why my scale is stuck at 178 for the past two days? I was planning on staying for a step class after my training but just didn't feel up to it so I came home. Tomorrow is another day, right?

Nothing much going on here, just starting to pack for Chicago and getting excited about the trip. I am having my nails done this afternoon and tomorrow go for my hair cut, color and express Keretin Treatment. I'm going to miss Steve and I'll worry about him not eating while I'm gone because you know, without me to remind him, he never eats! I am being a little sarcastic but he literally will go all day and say "I didn't eat anything today, whats for dinner?" Very odd man my husband! I have to have a plan most days of what I am going to be eating! I've told him what I have in the freezer and it will be up to him to take it out and defrost. I am leaving him with pulled pork for sandwiches and eggplant parm which should keep him fed while I am gone! I may even make him a big batch of coleslaw. He eats that as a snack at night!

Exercise for today: weight training

b - egg, 1/4 bagel
l - Chobani plain non-fat yogurt with Kashi go-lean
s - s.e.i. max protein chocolate shake
d - Nathan's hot dog rolled up in a Pillsbury Crescent roll with 1/2 baked beans (I can usually eat 1/2 of hot dog but that was before last weeks fill!)
s - Skinny Cow ice cream cup

Calories = 1188
Exercise = 240
protein = 75g

Not a very healthy eating day but that's how I'm feeling today and it will have to do.

So I was thinking....

Its great that I have roll-up ballet flats to throw in my bag in case I need them, but the reality is, I will need them because I absolutely will not be walking 3/4 mile on concrete in 3 inch heels. There, I said it! So, I'm thinking that I will have to have a bag big enough to throw my heels in whilst I am wearing my roll-up ballets, yes? Ok, that being the case, why am I wearing roll-up ballet shoes when I can be wearing a much more comfortable pair of Naturalizer flats with a nice rubber sole? Either way I will need a bag for my heels so I may as well wear the more comfortable flats for walking!

The roll-up ballets may still come in handy at the restaurant when my heels start to hurt me, which they will. The roll-ups are much cuter than my flats. Stephen thinks I have serious issues and doesn't understand why I even need the heels in the first place! "Just wear the comfortable flat's" he told me! Men!

When will my hair stop falling out? It really makes no sense why its even coming out. I am NOT losing weight fast, thats for sure. Thank God I started out with extra thick hair...I would be bald if it was thin to start!

Todays eating & exercise:

Exercise: None...Sunday is my day of rest!

b - S.E.I. Max Protein Cookies and Cream shake with SF French Vanilla syrup
l - chobani plain no fat yogurt with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crispie Cereal
d - 1/2 turkey meatball with mozzerella cheese and marinara sauce and about 1/4 cup, if that, of thin spaghetti with Steves mothers recipe of pasta capesto sauce. So good!

Calories for today = 1089
Protein = 78g

Does it sound familiar to yesterday? It should because it is the same with a few minor differences. I know this is TMI but I have been using 1.5 scoops of protein powder and 1/2 cup of skim milk and 1/2 cup of water to make my shakes. Since using the new protein powder, which I LOVE, I have been adding the milk which I never did before. Anyway, I think the combo of more protein plus milk (which has been known to give me problems in the past) I've been gassy and have had diarrhea. Hopefully, eliminating 1/2 scoop of protein and the milk entirely will eliminate these symptoms. I hope, I hope!

Dinner we had plenty of leftovers with lots of sauce so it should be ok for me although I usually don't do leftovers well.

Saturday Ramblings

Stephen and I had a really busy day running around to different stores buying me some last minute things for Chicago. The best part is we did it on the motorcycle as it was a glorious weather day here in Florida! Today was the last day I had free to do these errands as I am working tomorrow. I think I am good now and just have to do a quick Dillards run to buy a pair of Spanx hose. I don't think I have any.

Out of everything planned for Chicago the one thing the scares the sh@t out of me is walking to dinner on Saturday night in heels! I am so not a heel girl. I bought a pair of Dr. Scholls roll-up ballerina shoes to keep in my purse. I know I will be wearing them while walking! Thank you Steph for recommending them!

Before we went out, I went to a one hour spin class and it was with a trainer I had never been to before. Can I tell you, he kicked my ass but good! Oh my gravy, my thighs were burning and still are!

My fill on Thursday has kicked in and I am loving it. Todays eating was:

b - S.E.I. Max Protein Cookies and Cream shake with SF French Vanilla syrup
l - chobani plain no fat yogurt with 1/2 cup Kashi Go Lean Crispie Cereal
d - Ah, dinner tonight was delish! 1/2 turkey meatball with mozzerella cheese and marinara sauce and about 1/4 cup, if thatm, of thin spaghetti with Steves mothers recipe of pasta capesto sauce. So good!

Calories for today = 1207
Exercise = 703
Net Calories = 504
Protein = 94g

BYOC

1. Last week we asked your favorite thing about being an adult. This week the question is: what is one thing you miss about being a child?

It would definitely be not having to worry and just being carefree. Also, when I was a child, my Dad was always with me and he's not anymore. I miss him so much.

2. When you make a serious life decision – do you use your head or your heart?

I usually start with my heart but my head usually kicks in at some point.

3. In relation to blogs….are you a never commenter, a sometimes commenter, an almost always commenter or a direct emailer kinda person?

I try to comment as much as I can.

4. If life was a flavor – would it be savory, sweet or sour?

Savory for the most part with a little sweet thrown in!

5. Repeat question. Summarize your week in life or in blogland.
stressing out and fantasizing about chicago!!!

This was a great week for me! I had a fill which was so very needed and thanks to Miss Steph, I was able to go in two weeks sooner as she gave me her appointment! I went shopping and brought home a few size 12 Jeans (although according to Joey's article they are probably a size 14!) that made me very happy. I am now shooting for size 10's!

I am beside myself with excitement about the upcoming week....just when you think it cant get any better, we have a BOOB's weekend coming up!

Thousand word Thursday!

As per the lovely Amy, we were to pick our favorite piece of bling and explain why!

No, its not my engagement ring or my diamond wedding band. My favorite piece of bling is the thin white gold band I wear closest to my heart!

Let me explain: Steve and I already had our wedding planned for September. We were having a tradional but very small, wedding with our family and closest friends. One day in April, he comes home and asks me to marry him. I said, "uh, yea, we've been through this already, remember? September 20th? You, me, the girls, getting married!" He than says, "no, I mean now. I want to marry you now." He went on to explain that he was worried that if something happened to him between then (April) and September, my girls and I wouldn't be on his medical insurance and he didn't want to take that chance! Of course, my first thought was "is there something you are not telling me? Did you just find out you have cancer, God forbid?" He told me "no, he just didnt' want to take the chance that if something were to happen to him, we would not have coverage."

So, we made arrangements to get married on April 14th. Just a simple ceremony, just to make us legal. We would still have the "Celebration of our Marriage" in Sept. as planned. Great. Two days before the "wedding", we were in Walmart and I asked him what we would do about wedding rings as the ones we ordered would not be in for our wedding in two days. He said we didn't need rings for this wedding, we'd exchange rings in Sept. I explained that I wouldn't feel married without a band, any band would do. We walked over to the jewelery counter and bought my $28.88 14K White Gold band! He than asked if he could cancel the diamond band that was previously ordered and I told him absolutely not! He didn't give me that one until Sept.

Everytime I look at that Walmart ring I am reminded how lucky we both are to have found each other. I not only found a great guy to love and take care of me but my children found their Bonus-Dad who loves them unconditionally.

Thank you Steph!

I just left Dr D's office with .5 cc's more in my band! I am praying that this fill puts me in the green zone.

I told my doc about going to Chicago next week and that I planned on eating a Chicago hot dog and he said I could share it with a few of you. he is happy with my progress and said I will lose all my excess weight if I keep doing what I am doing.

We are now heading to Jupiter FLORIDA to have lunch with Steves cousins. It will be a liquid lunch for me! Hopefully we will get home in time for me to go to spin class at 5:30.

179.6....4 times!!!!

Yup...that's right, I got on my scale and was met with 179.6, again, again and again! I will take it!

I am running out in 10 minutes but wanted to post my food and exercise for today. We are going out to dinner tonight at an Italian restaurant and I am going to order Tuscan Chicken which is grilled chicken chunks with chunky veggies in an oil and garlic type sauce. I am totally guessing on the calories but on myfitnesspal.com they have an Olive Garden Tuscan Chicken recipe for about 1100 calories so I will go with 1/2 of that for the amount I will eat (if I even eat that much!)

B - S.E.I Max Protein Chocolate/Coconut shake, OMG! tasted like a Mounds Bar!
L - 3 oz. tuna with light mayo on 1/2 whole grain light Eng. Muffin
D - Tuscan Chicken and maybe a little of Steves salad
S - 1/2 c. Protein Ice Cream that I made (one of Shelly's recipes, delish!)

1100 Calories for the day - 120g protein!

Exercise:
1 hour cardio = 420 calories burned

Last but not least, tomorrow I go for my fill! Thank you Stephanie!

Todays menu and surprise on the scale

This morning when I jumped on my scale I was welcomed with 179.8! WHAT? I didn't believe it. Well, I should have quit while I was ahead because the next 3 times I got on I weighed 180.4 :( Its all good though because the day before, I was 181.8 so it is definitely going down and I will be in the 170's very soon!

I know that my having the band was supposed to help me stay away from the "diet mentality" but I have to admit, with my having no or close to no restriction, counting calories helps me stay on track and stay focused. So, without furter ado, the following is my menu for today! Question, is too much protein a bad thing? Total protein for today will be 90g and total calories will be 1028.

B - S.E.I. Max Protein chocolate shake with strawberries
L - Chobani Plain Yogurt with 1/2 cup Kashi go lean crisp cereal mixed in
D - 4 oz. chopsteak with mushroom gravy, couple stalks asparagus & 1/2 cup of mashed potatos
S - SF Jello pudding with SF whipped cream

Exercise:45 minute spin class

80 - 100 oz. of water

Oprah, Accountability, Kindle and weird bone

She gave her audience of 300 a trip to Australia this December! Can you imagine? Doesn't she know that BOOB's are coming to her town and we could've went with her?

I will start witht he Kindle first! It arrived today and so far, I love it. I have downloaded a book and will start reading tonight.

Second, I have this weird bone/thing and I am not sure what it is. I can only feel it if I am laying down on my back. It is kind of at the point where my ribs meet right under where my bra strap would be. I swear i thought it was my band! Hubs says no, he has it too but I don't feel it on him like I feel it on me. Any thoughts?

Starting tody, I am going to post every day even it is only my food and exercise for the day!

Exercise: 1 hour step class
B- Strawberry protein drink with fresh strawberries
L- 3 oz tuna, 1 tbs. light mayo, 1 whole grain eng muffin (I only ate 1/2 of the muffin)
S- Click Mocha Espresso Protein drink with added sugar free chocolate YUMMO!
D- Egg Frittata with approximately 2 eggs, parmasan cheese, tomatoe and a few leftover oven fries mixed in
S- sugar free Jello pudding with sugar free whip cream

I am determined to get at least 60 grams of protein in each day as I seem to be slacking in this area. Todays total is 82g! My total calories will be 920...a little low as I am trying to stay around 1200. The scale is finally moving a little downward but still 1 lb away from my low of 180. I am getting a fill on Thursday (THANK YOU STEPH!) and hope to be in the 170's by this time next week. Wish me luck!

At the mall

The stores don't open until noon (who knew?) but don't worry the food court is in full force! I. have been here since 11, drinking my water :) watching people. It is amazing what people eat on a Sun morning! Pizza, micky d's, chinese, etc.

I am waiting for Macys to open to look for a dress for boobs. I can also use a pair of jeans that fit! I thought we had a GAP here but we don't. I want to try the curvy style in a 12. I am not sure I am there yet but my 14s are too big! I may have too order online.

ok its almost noon so I am outta here. wish me luck!

I will never forget 9.11.01

It feels like a lifetime ago and it feels like only yesterday. I will never forget what the sky looked like that day, sitting in my office on Long Island, New York, 35 miles from where the Twin Towers had stood hours before. Bright blue with puffy white clouds going by. That was not the same sky in Manhattan.

To this day, when I look up and I see that sky, it brings back all the memories of that day for me. We lost so many innocent lives and we lost our innocense as a Country.

It will never be the same and I will never forget.

Thank you!

For all your comments on my last post. Its crazy how just when I think I am getting "better" something like a letter in the mail can knock me on my ass!

Before I go back to my happy-life posting (I usually am a happy person in general, ya know?) I just have to share one more thing with you all. My sister went back to work on Tuesday, she is an Italian language teacher. This was the first time since May 11th that she saw many of her students. She told me that after her first class, it became apparant that she had to address the elephant in the room so for the first 15 minutes of each class she spoke about what happened on May 11th and what led to the accident that killed my dad and her husband. Texting while driving. She took this tragic accident as an opportnity to warn teenagers about the dangers of texting and driving! She is the most unbelievable woman I know! I am so proud of her and I honestly cannot believe how far she has come. Granted, she is still a scatter brain as evidenced the other day when she threw out a bag of my daughters ex-boyfriends clothes! I will save that story for another post!

I am still sick today with a cold/sore throat and I didn't go to the gym today. I have an appointment for a CT scan of my ankle this afternoon. It hasn't hurt since I got the cortizone shot back in June but its starting to act up again. The doc wants the CT scan to see exactly what we are dealing with. I had an MRI months ago and really don't understand what the difference is but I'm not the doctor. As crazy as it sounds, I hope he can just do another cortizone shot even though that hurt like hell! The alternative is surgery which I would rather avoid, thank you very much!

My weight is still flat-lining and I am anxiously waiting for next Thursday when I go to see the doctor for my fill. This is the appointment that Stepahnie gave me, remember? Love her!

Have a great Thursday my friends!

Premonitions?

I have had a very wishy-washy kind of day today. First off, I woke up sick. Sore throat, head stuffy and just feeling crappy. Off to the gym I went for my session with my trainer but I didn't stay for my one hour cardio class afterwards. She actually made me leave saying it would not do me any good to push myself when I didn't feel good. So, home I went!

I was just kind of doing nothing when Steve brought in the mail and said there was something from the attorney handling my dads estate. I opened it and out fell one piece of paper naming me his administrator. I don't know why but it hit me so hard! I immediately started crying and really haven't stopped since. One piece of paper. That's it.

Steve was so mad that the attorney didn't even bother to put a cover letter or anything. Unfortunately, its not the attorneys fault, it was the secretary who sent it. Anyway, it just got me to thinking AGAIN, about how different things would be today if everyone just listened to me. For the life of me, I still cannot understand why I had such a bad feeling about that motorcycle trip. I was relentless in trying to talk my father and brother-in-law out of going.

Steve didn't want to go but not at all for the reasons that I didn't want them all to go. He didn't want to go because he just thought it would be to cold to be riding so far on the bikes in May. The only reason he went was to keep my dad company on the ride north to South Carolina. I didn't want them to go because I just had a bad feeling. I begged my sister to talk to her husband about not going. At one point, it actually looked like my brother-in-law was going to cancel because some of the guys he was riding down from New York with were backing out. I was ecstatic! Than, he says "I have to go or I'll lose my $100 deposit on the room!" OMG...I even offered to pay him the $100.

I feel very guilty about my last conversation with my BIL. I was very upset with him about going forward with the trip and when he called on Saturday to talk to Steve about the trip, I was very short with him. He was so excited about leaving the next morning and I just didn't want to talk to him about it so I cut him off and gave the phone to Steve. I wish I had a premonition than that it was going to be my last conversation with Jimmy because you can bet, I would not have done that. I have to live with that the rest of my life.

When I start doing the "what if" scenarios my daughter and husband always point out that I will make myself crazy if I live the rest of my life asking these questions. I know that it doesn't matter "what if", all that matters is "what is".

Anyway, the reason I am really bringing this up today is that Tessie's post on Hurricane Rita brought back some memories for me. Long Island was hit with Hurricane Bob in 1991 and that was the only other time in my life that I had a premonition. Believe me, that premonition wasn't nearly as bad as the one I had about the motorcycle trip but it was still a premonition that came true. I was sitting on my front porch watching the storm and we had this huge oak tree on the front lawn. Out of the blue I said to my ex-husband, "can you imagine if that tree fell?" There was absolutely no reason for my comment. It wasn't swaying or anything. He said that wouldn't happen. Oh really? Not five minutes later, that sucker fell....ripped out the power lines and missed my porch by a few feet!

I asked Steve if in the future I ever felt strongly about something, would he trust my instincts? He said yes. I was actually a little surprised by this but I felt comforted by it. I pray that I will never again have a premonition such as those I've had but its nice to know that my husband doesn't think I am a kook!

Shoutout to my Guardian Angel Stephanie!!!

I wanted to publicly thank Stephanie of "Dreams of Skinny High Heals" for helping me out. Steph and I go to the same doctor (she recommended him to me in the beginning of my journey) and when she read my earlier post and saw the problem I was having with no restriction and no appointment until 9/29, she decided to give me her appointment on 9/13! Can you believe this? She truly is my Guardian Angel. I really couldn't imagine having to wait that long to see the doctor and now, because of Steph, I don't have to!

I am blessed to have found such a friend and this whole community. Thank you Steph...I can't wait to spend time with you in Chicago!

I am getting so discouraged!

I am at a loss but its not a weight loss! I am doing everything right...eating great, exercising and the scale is not going down. In fact, it went up 2 lbs two days ago and its still up!

I want so bad to be at 175 for Chicago, that was only a 5 lb loss I was looking for but now its 7 lbs and I honestly don't know what else I can do at this point. My trainer said I am not eating enough! I am eating between 1000 and 1200 calories a day and I am exercising 5 days a week at least 1 hour a day. Less calories, more exercise should = weight loss!

The worst part is I am doing this entirely WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM MY BAND! Seriously, my fill level sucks. Unless the doctor has a cancellation, my appt. is set for 9/29. Honestly, what is going on here? I have always been a slow loser and that sure hasn't changed. The thing is, I have been so militant about the exercise and this has not been the case in the past. I really thought that I would see some downward movement on the scales with all my exercise but nothing. I have not lost anything in 3 weeks and now have gained 2.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me?

Amy's Thursday Thingy!

Thousand Word Thursday! The adorable Amy came up with this idea! Every Wed. she will pic a topic and on Thursdays, we will follow through. Today's topic is "Let's celebrate our own beauty and how wonderful we all look with a photo of your favorite feature "

This pic of my hubbers and I was taken on our Cruise last November. While Steve looks like he just saw a ghost, I kind of like the pic because it shows off my eyes. With the exception of my hands and feet which are tiny and delicate looking, my hair and my eyes are really my only feature's that I love. I have problems with my nose, my smile (but I do love my teeth!) and lets not even go near the body, legs and arms! However, with each pound I lose, I am realizing that my daughter Jordan's shoulders that I love....actually come from me! Yea! I'll have to take a picture of them if we ever do this topic again!

***Edited***Do I dare go in for another fill?

I just don't know what to do! After my unfill, my doc put in .5 cc's last Wednesday which brings me to 2.3 in my 4 cc band. My 2nd fill brought me to 2.6 cc's and I really think if I had stayed there, instead of getting my 3rd fill (which resulted in the unfill) I would have been so much better off. I had one stuck episode 2 nights ago but aside from that, I do not feel any restriction. I am portioning out my portions but i know I could eat more.

My doctor really thought that this fill would take me through Sept. and into Oct. before I needed a little more. I really think I should be brought back to th 2.6 cc level but I am not sure he would go for that. I am thinking that I should call tomorrow and see if I can make an appt. for Monday, 9/13, what do you all think?

I was looking at my weight charts and comparing where I was weightwise with each fill and back when I was at a 2.6 cc fill level, I was 15 lbs heavier than what I am now! Surely, some of the fat from that weightloss came from around the stomach and that would make sense why now that I have 2.3 cc's in my band, I do not feel any restriction at all! I am definitely going to call this morning and plead my case! Wish me luck!
