Wedding Pictures & belated Bandiversary Post!

The wedding was last Friday and we came home yesterday.  We left my sisters house at 9 a.m. fully intending to make the trip in two days but a miracle occurred and there was absolutely no traffic in NY or DC and we made it home by 11:45 p.m.!  My husband did all the driving as that is his thing.  Anyway, we are home and the bride and groom are in St. Lucia!  What a great wedding day my daughter and son-in-law had!

This pic was at the end of the night when I was getting ready for some eye-poking as the wedding was almost over!  Theresa, do I have a great story for you girl!!!!  I will be sending you a PM on Facebook as I don't want anything I put in writing to be held against me in court! (Just kidding!)

And last but not least, last Thursday marked my one year Bandiversary!  I cannot believe the year went so fast!  My goal was to lose 50 lbs by this date and I accomplished that!  I am planning to continue to lose another 12-15 lbs before I go into maintenance.  Because of ME and my band, not to mention the hours and hours of exercise, I was able to put on a gown for my daughters wedding and not feel self-conscious in it all night.  I felt good about me and that is really what this whole thing is about!

I have my husband and children, extended family and friends who have supported and encouraged me during this process.  My family and I suffered the worst loss imaginable last May when we lost my father and brother-in-law but somehow, all of us have moved on with our lives and for that I am beyond grateful.   I have met so many great people during this journey and I am so excited to continue making those bonds stronger!  Thank you for becoming a part of my family this past year and being with me for the good and the bad!  I love you all!

Protein drink heaven!

I have been hearing about PB2 for years and always thought powdered peanut butter sounded disgusting. Well, I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong and man, am I wrong! I finally bit the bullet and ordered it specifically to add to my chocolate protein drink as there is nothing that I love more than chocolate and peanut butter. It tastes like a peanut butter cup! Heaven.... Especially with all the peanut butter cup eggs that are everywhere this time of year! Just thought I'd share.

Two more days until we set out for new York! I. Cannot. Wait.

All my bags are packed and I'm ready to go!

Ok, so I am exaggerating....I am not packed but I just booked my airline reservations for B.O.O.B.s 2011!!! I cannot wait!  I will be getting there on Thursday, 9/29 and leaving on Monday, 10/3.  I have my roomies, Theresa and Vicki and I have a whole lot of other great women waiting for me in Chicago.  If this year is anything like last year, it will go fast and before you know it, we will all be in Chi Town.

I just have to get through my daughters wedding without poking anyone in the eye, namely her father and/or his wife!  I have promised my daughter I will be a lady and not do anything to get arrested for at her wedding.  What could I do, right?  But, if I get drunk and by accident happen to poke someone in the eye, that should be ok :)  Actually, I am only kidding as I have too much class for that but man, after the wedding, class is outta here and the gloves will be off!

We are leaving this Saturday...road trip...for NY and the wedding is next Friday.  I cannot believe it is here already.  Every time I get off the phone with her these days I cry a little as I cannot believe that my beautiful little girl has grown into this beautiful young woman who is getting married!

Dinner with Steph!

Dinner with Steph and her family tonight!  It was great seeing her....she looks absolutely fantastic!

Check out our shirts!  Mine has a Paris theme and hers has an Italy theme.  I swear we did not plan that one!  Too funny!  Her daughter is gorgeous and what a personality...just like her mama.  We had a very nice visit...good food, good friends.  We will be planning another visit after we each get back from our upcoming vacations to compare notes.  I will also have some wedding updates as my daughters wedding is in less than two weeks!

What a wild and fun week!

and its not over yet!

The week started last Sat. with a day in Deland with our friends on the motorcycle as it is bike week here in Daytona!  From there, Sunday started with a visit from my friend Patty who was visiting from Seattle.  Patty was with me from Sunday until Wednesday.  On Monday, I had a trip to the doctor for a cortisone shot in my ankle and I had a reaction to that which put me out of commission until Wednesday.  Just in time for Patty to leave!

Thursday was a good day for my ankle AND for more friends to come visit.  This time it was Carmen and Gordon from Canada!  We met these two great people on a trip to Italy in May '09 and we have kept in touch since!  On Friday, we drove to Tampa which is directly across the state from us, about 2.45 hours to be exact, to meet up with another couple who we met in Italy and who have become dear friends to us.  They live in Port Charlotte, FL., which by coincidence is where my father lived so it really worked out well for visits and such!  Anyway, it was great being together with everyone even if it was only for lunch.
It is now Saturday morning and Carmen and Gordon have left for home.

But its not over!  Tonight I am having some very special friends over for dinner....none other than Stephanie and her family are coming to my house for dinner tonight!  I cannot wait!  We will be sure to take some pics!

I am off to the gym and than I have some cooking to do!

Company, ankles & more company-oh my!

My girlfriend Patty from Seattle has been visiting us since this past Sunday.  We are supposed to be heading up to St. Augustine for some girl-time shopping and walking through the old city BUT yesterdays highlight of the day may be a factor.

I have been having problems with my right ankle for the past year and I am ultimately going to be needing surgery to correct a problem but I am doing anything and everything to avoid that. Last June I had a shot of cortisone injected into the joint where the uneven bone is and it worked until this past week.  At the time, the doctor told me that I am to come back to his office immediately when the pain starts up so we can do another shot.  Well, you guessed it, the pain has come back big time (last week it started) and I was able to get into see him yesterday.  The doc is an hour away so for our first full day together, we spent it in Winter Park at the Dr.!

Do I know how to show my guests a good time or what?  We did get to go to a Vegan restaurant that Patty had been too (she is a Vegan) for lunch and I have to say, it was very good.  I had about 8-10 blue corn tortilla's with about 1/4 cup of hummus and a mango salsa.  Steve had a bean sprout, hummus & veggie wrap that he said was fine.

Anyway, they numb the ankle to give you the shot and I was fine for the next few hours.  As we were cleaning up from dinner it hit!  Holy Sweet Baby Jesus!  Pain like I have never experienced, 2 labors included, in my ankle.  My ankle swelled up and just felt like it was going to explode!  It got progressively worse and ultimately I could not walk.  I was sitting on the couch with my leg propped up and started to cry becuase I had to pee and I couldn't walk!  Steve helped me get up and almost carried me to the bathroom.  I will have to remind him today to thank me for losing 50+ lbs!

We called the emergency service of the Dr and the Dr called me back and explained that I was having a reaction to the shot.  Really?  No kidding!  He told me to take 3 advils and ice the ankle.  It seemed to work.  I was finally able to get comfortable enough to take an Ambien and go to sleep.  Today my ankle is still very sore but nothing like last night.  I hope that by tomorrow it will all be a bad dream!

So, today is my last day with Patty as she is leaving tomorrow and it doesn't look like we will be doing much today.  We have more friends coming in on Thursday and they will be staying with us until Saturday morning.  And than, guess who's coming to my house for dinner Saturday night?  Stephanie of Dreams of Skinny High Heals and her family I am so excited and cannot wait to see them!

Please say a prayer that my ankle will get better because I have to wear skinny high heals at my daughters wedding in two weeks and that wont happen unless this ankle behaves!

"Bike Week" in Deland

Today was day 2 of Bike Week here in FL and Steve and I joined a few couples for a ride over to Deland, a small town about 45 minutes away from where we live.  We had such a great day...the weather was gorgeous, good friends and of course, there was good food involved!

It was a little chilly in the morning and Steve decided to wear my dad's leather jacket.  He came out of our bedroom with it on and asked me if it was ok.  Of course, I told him.  My father would be so happy to know that Steve was using it.  I felt as though my father was with us every time I looked at my husband.  I will never get on a motorcycle for the rest of my life and not think about Jimmy and Dad.  I guess, with or without the jacket, my father and Jimmy will always be with us and looking out for us when we are riding.  When I am on the back of the motorcycle there isn't much to do but think and stare at my surroundings.  I often find myself thinking of them and staring at the sky and believing that they are watching over us.

I leave you with a few pics from our day!

Nice Helmet hair, huh?  This was at 10 a.m. this morning...you should see it now!
Doesn't my husband have the most beautiful blue eyes?  When my daughter first met him, she said he has "kind eyes".  I cannot tell you how right she was/is!  He was truly sent to me for a reason and the longer we are together, I realize just how lucky I am to have him in my life.

Hey!

I am just dropping in to say "hey" to everyone!  I have been crazy busy with life this week.  I have been exercising like a mad woman and the scale has finally budged a little downward today.  Yay for that!  We'll see if it keeps going!  I have a super busy week coming up as today is the beginning of "Bike Week" here in Daytona and you know where Steve will be.  We are going for a ride tomorrow with some friends and than tomorrow night, I have a friend coming to stay with me for a few days so Steve will be on his own for the most part during the days.  That will leave us to go SHOPPING!  I can do this.

The end of the week we have friends coming to stay for a few days from Canada.  I cannot wait to see them.  We met them on our cruise to Italy 2 years ago and have stayed in touch since but will see them for the first time.  So excited.

Thats it for now, I have a 6 a.m. date with my personal trainer.  Have a great weekend!
