BYOC ala Drazil

1. What’s your favorite smell? Definitely the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven.

2. What is your all-time favorite movie and why? Its a wonderful life. It just brings back so many great memories from when I was a small child and continuing into adult-hood. Christmas isn't Christmas to me until I see the movie!

3. What’s your trigger food? Anything salty/sweet like chocolate covered pretzels.

4. When someone you love is going through a difficult time – what are your go-to words to make them feel better – in just a sentence or two? What can I do to help?

5. This one is always the same. Who is your nominee for the blog of the week for YOU? Which blog OR comment touched your heart, spoke to you, stuck with you all week? I think it would have to be Catherines for me this week when she was explaining why she decided to not attend a wedding and the feelings associated with her decision.

Spinning out of conrol...help! Let me off this thing!

So, the company is all gone, THANK GOD! Its not their fault, believe me, its all me. I don't know why I do what I do but I always seem to be sabotaging my weight loss efforts. I am starting to get "that feeling". You know the one I mean? The "this isn't going to work for me" feeling? Let me explain:

After my friends left today, I jumped on the scale, up two lbs. and than I hightailed it over to the gym. I walked for 45 minutes and burned 310 calories. Great, right? Wrong! I left the gym and went straight to Burger King! WTF? I had a Jr. Whopper (no mayo or cheese) but really? What was I thinking? According to myfitnesspal.com, the calorie count was 340. So, in this case the calories are not terrible as it keeps me at my daily 1200 level BUT the choice I made just plain SUCKED!

All I keep saying is that I can't wait until I get my fill on Monday but the fill isn't going to change how I think. Hopefully I'll get some restriction but what will stop me from going to BK again, getting a Jr. going home and pureeing it with added ketchup and drinking it with a straw? (Don't worry, I wouldn't really do this but still!) Is this where the "head band" comes in?

I know I am not experiencing anything new from what others have experienced. I have read this same theme in countless other blogs and I always empathized but man, until it happens to me, it really doesn't mean anything! Does this make me a self-centered bitch? I hope not!

I suppose the only saving grace for me right now is that instead of saying "screw it, I'll go back on the wagon tomorrow, I am putting what I did in writing and making the next thing I put in my mouth a good food choice!"

I haven't told my husband what I did yet, maybe later tonight. I just hate seeing the disappointment in his eyes. Maybe he'll read my blog and find out here. Either way he finds out, it is still an improvement over the "old me".

More Company is Coming!

Hotel "Jacquie" is going strong. Carmen and her husband left this morning, I washed sheets and towels, re-made bed, vacuumed, went food shopping and now I am waiting for Lorraine and her husband to get here!

I really do love having company but I wished it wasn't all in a two day period! Plus, I have decided that I do much better eating-wish when it is just Steve and I. We went out to dinner last night and I did not make the best choice...Veal Parm. It was a small piece but it was very salty. On the plus side, I drank 2 more bottles of water when we got home for a total of 6 bottles for the day! We are going to dinner again tonight but we are going to a restaurant that I chose and it makes the best fish taco's. While they give you two, I will just eat one. The fish is grilled and it has lettuce, salsa and some chedder cheese. Delish and light...that's what I need!

Once my morning company left and my chores were done, I ran to the gym and did a 2.5 mile walk on the treadmill. I felt so good as this was my first time back at the gym since before surgery. I am limiting myself to the treadmill, bike and eliptical for now until I see the foot/ankle specialist in June! I have this really strange pain deep in my ankle, went to doctor who sent me to specialist who did MRI and than told me that I have some sort of lesion very deep in the foot/ankle and there is only 1 doctor in FL he feels comfortable sending me to. Thankfully, it is only about 1.5 hours away but he could not see me until June 9 I think. I made the appt. in March! Exercise makes the pain worse so I am trying to baby it as much as I can while still staying active. I think it will result in surgery which is not good but I've got to get it taken cared of because it sucks to have the pain!

This coming Monday I am having my first fill and it cannot come too soon! I am so ready for it and realize, as it is my first fill, I will probably need another one not to long after the first one but still, it will feel like I am going in the right direction! It will be curious to see how much he puts in as I only have a 4 cc band.

Thats it for now!

Company's coming!

Since we moved to Florida, it is usually feast or famine when it comes to our Long Island family and friends visiting with us!

Today a dear friend and her husband are coming to spend the day and night with us. They will be leaving tomorrow afternoon and than another friend and her husband will be coming tomorrow night and than leaving the next day! I have told my one friend about the band but not the other one! I really don't see this as an issue considering that I have always been on a "diet" so it will not be a shock to anyone that I am watching what goes in my mouth!

Which brings me to my problem of the day! I weighed myself today and I am up 2.5 lbs.!!! WTF? From yesterday? This is why you should not weigh yourself everyday boys and girls! The scale is a mean a viscious thing and loves to play with us. Ok, I did have 2 very skinny pieces of that chocolate cake I made for Steves birthday but they were very skinny and one was actually lunch! For dinner I had a very small piece of eggplant parmesan which was probably salty due to the cheese and for breakfast I had the infamous hardboiled egg and cottage cheese. That was it for the day! No, it was not a steller eating day but than again, it was not one of my worst ones either! As Winnie says "oh bother! And yes, it does bother me even though I know the scale cannot be right! But still, I will drink even more water today!

Is this normal? EDITED

I am almost 5 weeks out from surgery and I can eat ANYTHING! I am eating the right portions, 1 cup or less BUT when I tell you I have had no indication that I have a band down there, you can believe it! I have even taken larger bites of something, not intentionally and thought, "yup, this is it, I am going to regret that one" and NOTHING!

I had a few "traffic jam" incidents early on but nothing in the last week or so. Is this because all my swelling is gone and thus, the restriction that I had is gone? Next Monday is my first fill....please tell me I will get some restriction from it!

****Edited at 10:30****
I have to learn to be careful what I wish for...I just ate a hardboiled egg followed by 1 spoonful of cottage cheese and BAM! Jammed up for sure! Ouch! So, I guess I really do have a band after all, huh?

BYOC - Better late than never!

1. Name a career you would NOT want to do and tell why?

I could never be a Phlebotomist. I hate the site of other peoples blood and the thought of sticking a needle into someone makes me queezy.

2.Best present you ever received for your birthday. It would have to be the diamond tennis bracelet my husband bought me for. Un until that point, I had always given him hints of what to get for me and that year he didn't listen to me (thank God!) and ended up totally surprising me!

3.What do you hide behind? I think its my sense of humor and always trying to see the good in people.

4.Where were you born? I was on Long Island, New York.

5. Which comment affected you greatly? There are too many for me to even think about picking one. Sorry!
