Is this normal? EDITED

I am almost 5 weeks out from surgery and I can eat ANYTHING! I am eating the right portions, 1 cup or less BUT when I tell you I have had no indication that I have a band down there, you can believe it! I have even taken larger bites of something, not intentionally and thought, "yup, this is it, I am going to regret that one" and NOTHING!

I had a few "traffic jam" incidents early on but nothing in the last week or so. Is this because all my swelling is gone and thus, the restriction that I had is gone? Next Monday is my first fill....please tell me I will get some restriction from it!

****Edited at 10:30****
I have to learn to be careful what I wish for...I just ate a hardboiled egg followed by 1 spoonful of cottage cheese and BAM! Jammed up for sure! Ouch! So, I guess I really do have a band after all, huh?

I'd bet that you are right and the swelling has gone down and that is why you are experiencing no restriction. That is what happened to me between my surgery and my first fill.

You should feel something from the first fill but don't be expecting miracle restriction. The first few fills I had, I had restriction for a bit and then it seemed to go away.

Most don't have restriction before their first fill. I honestly didn't feel "real" restriction until my 3rd fill. You'll get there, don't worry!! :)

Yes it's normal! Don't worry Jacquie! You are doing great...I wasn't always able to stick to just one cup. It's hard. Great job!!
Once you start getting your fills, you'll see a big difference!

Normal. I could (and still can) eat almost anything. Still waiting to get some good restriction. I go on May 3rd for another top-up. I think this is what they call Bandster Hell. You have the band but it isn't working for you right now.

Its totally normal. I've had 4 fills and I still can eat anything...never been stuck ever. But maybe you're the mythical "first fill restriction" person we all hope we are :)

I found that at about 5 weeks (1st fill @ 4 weeks) I started to be able to eat anything - most of the time. As time went on things got easier and easier (to go down that is). Hopefully, you have a fill coming soon and it will help. Otherwise you will have to figure out a strategy for getting through what we lovingly call "bandster hell". I found getting lots of water and eating small meals more often worked best for me. Good luck!

SO NORMAL!
Once you get your fill, you will be on your way...

Totally normal! I didn't get restriction until fill #3. Unfortunately, you are in bandster hell and it is all about willpower and portion control, although you feel like you could eat a horse. Like TJ said, water, water, water is the key! let me know how things go with Dr. Domkowski!

Normal. Oh, and cottage cheese, for some reason, is a bitch for me. I've stopped trying.

Ditto, I felt exactly the same and was so worried it wasnt going to work on me. Well why would it nothing else had. Then I got my forst fill last Friday and I am still struggling with liquid. Now I know that it may wear off a bit but right now its really doing its job. Dont worry it will be ok once you have a fill. At the moment its just "in there" sort of like owning a car but not having any gas. Once is pretty useless without the other. Chin up and good luck x

I've been feeling the same way, but just when I thought I had no band, I ate some leftover chicken, trust me, it's in there. I get my fill right after you!

This is hilarious because I was in your shoes about 30 minutes ago. I was complaining to my husband about how I need a fill (i haven't had one yet) because I can eat ANYTHING. Try 6 oz of flank steak? Pita bread? Yeah.

Then, a few min ago I got stuck for the first time on a piece of 'bagel thin' and turkey. it hurt like the dickens.

So weird. Is like we're connected.

Normal.. You will notice more after your fill.

I personally believe that our blogs are magic. All we have to do is complain about it and have people comment then everything gets better. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I have to go now blog about how I haven't won the lottery. :-)

Sherry...yes, it is erie how we seem to be following the same path! Good erie though!

For your new and great signature, try this:
Copy the code for your signature. In your Dashboard click on Settings/Formatting. At the very bottom there is a box called Post Template. Paste the signature code in there.
Every time you post you will see your signature is added to the post. I’m still trying to add a space at the beginning because the signature sits at the very beginning of a new post but I just space up to start my post. If that doesn't work send me an email at YsandraY@gmail.com.
