From one BOOB to another....

I am a little discouraged with the lack of movement on my scale :( I know I am eating way less than before the band but I have to admit, with no restriction and not measuring, I am sure its not as little as I think. I am using a little plate and bowl as a guide but not physically measuring and weighing. Not only have I started that today, I am also logging EVERYTHING that is going into my mouth on www.myfitnesspal.com.

We have also been eating out way to much with friends and again, I am not eating as much but I'm not preparing the food myself so I'm sure thats another part of the problem. I've started upping my walking regime and once I am 4 weeks from surgery (this wednesday) I will be heading back to the gym. I have to remember though that I am still healing and feeling quite a bit of swelling in my port area. It still feels to be the size of a half of an orange, maybe a little smaller than the other day. I am in the office this morning and than have to go show a house this afternoon but once I get home, Brutus and I will be back to Walking Away Those Pounds!

So, almost 4 weeks from surgery and I am down 8 lbs. I know that I should feel good about this as it looks like its 2 lbs per week but its all from week one! Nothing lost these past two weeks! I am so looking forward to my fill on 5/5 as I feel like I have NO restriction whats-so-ever! Every now and then I find if I am eatting too fast, I get a "traffic jam" feeling but then it passes.

Oh well, back to work for a few more minutes before I have to run home and eat my lunch before going to show a house!

Ciao for now!

You know, I'm so glad that I found these blogs because I think my expectations would have been crazy high without them. I know that when I'm in your shoes I won't be as matter-of-fact about things, but hopefully you know that you are not alone in the slow beginnings of weight loss right after getting banded. I've read so many times people being disappointed after surgery that the weight isn't coming off faster. It must be so hard after waiting to get banded to then still have to wait for your body to heal before it can focus on losing weight. Try not to get discouraged. It's going to get better. I know it.

I struggle with the slowness of the weight loss but keep reminding myself that we have to be patient and its all part of the process. 2lbs per week is HUGE! Keep it up!

Try not to stress...my losses were slow at first, too. It felt at times I wasn't losing everything, but I could feel my clothes were loser and my belly wasn't as prominent. Things will get better, but I definitely think that tracking will work wonders, as it really helps you realize what and how much you eat (or don't eat!). Stay strong!!

Jacquie, you are in a tough, tough time - between the immediate post-surgery losses and getting good restriction. I've been there, it's miserable and anxiety-inducing.

Trust that if you keep up with your appointments you will get restriction, and it will all become MUCH, MUCH easier. In the meantime, do your best to make good choices but don't beat yourself up about it too much. It's part of the normal band experience. Hang in there!

Totally normal and it WILL get easier. Just think, everything you have lost so far is pure fat - not water weight like the dieting days. Be kind to yourself and just try to eat protein, make good choices, if you are hungry then EAT, do not try to diet.

I hope that first fill helps. It did help me some.

Sweetie, I know you aren't happy with your 8 pounds but you have made my day! I am the same. About 8 pounds down at a little over 4 weeks out so...we're in the same boat. I'm dying for some restriction here.

I was feeling the same , most of my loss in the first 5 weeks came in week 1, but as the weeks go on after the fill , the scale will drop....maybe slowly , but as long as it drops..

I read on Mari's blog your comment about living near Ina. I used to go to her store too..very pricey!
Now one of her frequent guest friends is my neighbor..she did a show from his house..I tried to sneak in, LOL..
Good luck with the band!
