Yesterday was the 2 week mark from my VSG surgery and Doc said I can go back to the gym! I am very excited and a little nervous....not sure why about the nervous part but whatever.
My weight yesterday was still at 156. I lost 8 lbs the first week and 0 in week 2 which is really puzzling me. I did go to solid/pureed food last week but still, the most calories I had on any given day was 600 and carbs never got over 30g. Protein was at least 60g per day but most days in the 80's or 90's. The only thing I can think of is that my body, being so close to what I think is my 'natural weight' is holding on for dear life. Absolutely no science here, just me making an observation.
It will be interesting now that I am going back to exercise. Obviously, I will have to get some more calories in so I am curious how this will affect my weight. Oh, and I also broke down yesterday and ordered a BodyBugg. I've been eyeing this thing for a few years and decided to just do it. Happily, I than found out that our dear Jen is also in possession of one and will be reviewing it for the company. I am anxiously waiting for her review!
Thats it for now, as the gym is calling my name!
***Updated***
Went to gym and man did it kick my ass!!!! I actually only stayed for 40 minutes as I was really wiped. I only burned 250 calories but I guess thats alot considering I am only eating 600. I came home and ate a hard boiled egg and feel so much better.

wow, you are doing so great with the sleeve it is really comforting for me to hear about your adventure so far. I have been having a really hard time with out my band so it really lifts my spirits to hear about your journey and to be able to think about how it can help me in the hopefully near future get to my goal as well.
You are doing great Jacquie. Glad that you got the go ahead to exercise too. Its good to hear that you are feeling GOOD!
Jacquie, I would think just having undergone surgery period would be enough for your weight to do unusual things for a few weeks. This is my non-scientific brain talking but still.. I'd think the little things inside you that are healing your incisions and keeping infections at bay and whatever the heck else is going on in there would move to the head of the line as far as how the body works - I'd think the normal calories in/calories out equations would be pushed much lower.
And OMG - if you had been able to go to the gym and put in a hard and sweaty solid hour and half workout two weeks post surgery - I might have had to hate you! Take it easy one step at a time. You are doing so amazing!!
Wow! Way to go getting back to the gym :)
You are superwoman, Jacquie!
WTG in getting back to the gym!
Showing off !!
Good to read....
YOU ARE GOOD!!!!!!
You are one determined woman. Rock on, Jacquie. xoxo
Way to Go!! You're my HERO!!
Wow! That is really something. What did you do for 40 minutes at the gym? I can't imagine working out only 2 weeks after surgery. You are a pretty amazing woman.
Wow, lady, slow down! lol I know I was super-excited to be back at Curves (I had a Dr. imposed 6 week break due to my VSG) but you better believe I burned up the treadmill in those 6 weeks post-op, because I refused to sit still. My first day back at Curves I actually pulled an ab muscle and it hurt me for another week, so I had to stay away even longer. That is the reason for my warning to slow down...don't over-do it. I'm hoping you are not doing weight bearing exercise, walking (for 6 weeks) and swimming (after 4 weeks) is all my dr. would approve. Just wanting you to be careful, sweet lady!
