My life has been a whirlwind since getting the news on May 11th about my Dad and brother-in-law. We went to New York on May 13th and stayed until this past Thursday, May 20th. Friday morning we left at the crack of dawn to drive to my step-moms house to spend the day and night with her. We got home yesterday afternoon.
Today we are just spending the day relaxing at home and packing for our trip to Las Vegas. Yes, you heard me right...we are leaving tomorrow for a 4 day trip to Vegas that was planned before this horrific accident. I originally was going to cancel but than I decided that I should take some of my fathers ashes to the Golden Nugget which was his home away from home. With the support of my sister and step-mom, that is what Steve and I are going to do this week.
Next Saturday, my sister and her two children will be flying to FL and on Sunday our girls will be arriving. Monday, which is Memorial Day coincidently, we will be having a Memorial Service for my father at his Golf Club. Once we get through next weekend, hopefully, we will finally be able to rest knowing that our loved ones have been taken cared of.
We have since found out that the driver that hit them was using his cell phone at the time of the "accident". Maybe I can join up with Amy W. and we can both be guests on Oprah!
On the Band front...not much going on there. I lost a few lbs these past two weeks but not as much as I would have liked. While I am definitely eating less, my choices just plain sucked. I plan on using my few days in Vegas positively and will be using the gym each day and eating healthy. As I said previously, my father was my number one cheerleader and he was so excited for me when I made the decision to get the band. I will make him proud and lose this weight once and for all!
I plan on going through each of your blogs today and catching up. I feel so out of the loop. Thank you all again for the support you have all given my family...it means more than I can say.

You've been in my thoughts and I'm glad to know you are back from New York. Have a safe trip to Las Vegas. it sucks that the driver isn't facing criminal charges. I'm sorry, but taking 2 lives should warrant more than a speeding citation.
As for your dad being your biggest cheerleader, know that you have 110 friends here on the blogs who will always be your own cheer squad!
Thanks for checking in with us Jacquie. I think your Dad and my mom would have gotten along famously- my mom always says when she goes, she wants her ashes spread on a blackjack table at Caesar's Palace (although she recently "upgraded" to the Wynn.)
Hope the trip brings some needed rest and peace of mind.
Been thinking about you and your family. It will be a tough couple of weeks, hang in there! Try to enjoy Las Vegas and get some relaxation in! xo

I'm so glad you didn't cancel your trip to Vegas.
Try and relax a little and have a safe trip there and back.
Love you babe.
Jacquie, I owe you an apology - I somehow have been in my own world and not keeping up with others lives and blogs, and didn't realize what had happened. I am so, so sorry - I will keep you, your Dad, Brother-in-law, sister, husband and everyone else in my prayers. I'm thinking of all of you. Please take care of yourself and do what you need to to honor them and yourself. Love you...
A few days R&R will be good for the soul. It has been a tough few weeks for you and the family. Your Dad would be proud of you knowing that you are paying tribute to him and that you are continuing on this journey of yours. My thoughts are with you.Take care xx

Thanks for letting us know you are doing alright Jacquie. I hope your trip to Las Vegas is all that you want it to be. I also hope you find closure once you place your Dad's ashes in Vegas. I am so angry when I see people using their cellphones while driving. What part of against the law don't they understand?? I'm sorry, I am off my soapbox now. Take care.
Welcome back sweetie! So nice to hear from you again. Have a wonderful time in Vegas and take care of yourself!
I think appearing on Oprah is a great idea. She is all over this ban on using cell phones when driving.

I am glad you are back! I am also glad that you didn't cancel your trip to Vegas. I love the idea of spreading some of his ashes at one of his favorite places, that is so sweet. Take Care <3
I think Vegas sounds perfect. So glad you are getting better. Just so you know, I refuse to answer or talk on my phone when driving and will tell everyone I know about your tragedy. It might save a life.
Thanks for taking the time to update us on your situation. I am glad you are going to vegas and yes...I hear about Oprah's plan for everyone to take the pledge and i agree but even more so now. I hope your father's memorial goes well. Take care
