Somebody is definitely watching over me!

When I made my mind up to have WLS in late January I started frantically looking for a date on the calendar that would make sense. I was having a lot of family and friends visit in February so I knew that February would not be the month.

Today, March 4 was the day I chose! As you can see, it didn't happen. I ultimately chose March 24 for a couple of reasons, mainly that I would have felt too rushed to say goodbye to my friends and rush off to Mexico. I thought the following week would be better and than was told the doctor would be away at a seminar for a week! Pooh! Ok, the 24th was a go!

So, this may be TMI, but I woke up with TOM today and my first thought was "Thank God today is not my surgery day"! I also have a few real estate transactions that are taking up a lot of my time and leaving them to someone else would have been a pain in the you know what, not to mention, I'd have to share my commission!

I am a believer in the saying that "things happen for a reason". I was not meant to have surgery today. March 24 is a much better date for me. I have time now to focus on me without that rushed feeling. I got to enjoy my friends and family during the past few weeks without the surgery looming thing hanging over my head!

I just read Angies blog and she is celebrating her 1 year bandiversary. I am so excited for her and others who have celebrated this incredible milestone. For Angie and most of us, we have been proffessional dieters but never managed to be able to stick with it or maintain. In fact, for me, I always would lose the weight, and gain back more! This time will be different. I know this is what I have needed to accomplish this one thing that has always eluded me....weight loss and maintaining the loss! To have to wait 20 more days is nothing compared to what is waiting on the other side!

Have a great day!

You're right...things do happen for a reason. What a lot of positives to be heading into this banding with!

I forgot to factor in the whole TOM deal when I scheduled my surgery, but I was so glad that it came a week before my date because it would have sucked to deal with it and the surgery at the same time!

Yeah, they don't let you wear/use any feminine products during surgery so 'whew' for that one!
Keep up the positivity...you're going to be very a successful bandster, I can tell.

In our entire lifetime, 20 days is insignificant. Congrats on moving forward. The time will fly and then you will be on the other side.

Thank you all for your kind words!

Note to self - "Self, make sure to consider TOM when scheduling surgery." Thanks for the tip. Didn't even occur to me.

Great to see we are close to our surgery dates!
I want to lose at least 80lbs. My goal is to lose it in 18 months. I hope it's realistic!
I'm at the stage you were last week with the eating! I had a footlong turkey subway sandwich today because I KNOW I won't even be able to finish the 6" in a couple weeks. Weird to think that but I'm looking forward to it! I've gained about 13lbs since Thanksgiving - but not just because of the band but other things (stress).
Good luck!

Hi, I just found your blog today and read the whole thing. I'm excited for you that your surgery is just around the corner. I still don't have a surgery date yet, just the run-around from my insurance company. Good luck to you. I look forward to reading all about your successes!
Oh, as I did not see your profile pic that was "too realtorish" I must say, I can't tell which one is you and which ones are your daughters. You all look equally slim and young! You go girl!

Hi there-thanks for coming over to my blog!

I couldn't tell who was who in the picture either! do tell us which one you are?

Ok..TOM not such a big deal at surgery time. They give you a big old hospital pad but heck..the whole waiting and getting it done is way worth it. I didn't really get to choose my day and I don't remember if I was TOM but I know one of my surgeries I was and it wasn't really a big deal.

As far as the band surgery goes I had to postpone mine from May to August (I was sick)--i was annoyed at the time but in the long scheme of things I'm still down 100+ pounds.

and finally:
Wow-did you move to real estate before or after the crash? I hear Florida was hit hard. Is that true?

LOL to Tina and Tess. I am the one in the middle sillies!

Basically, I got into real estate last year. If I would have gotten into it 4-5 years ago, I would have made a lot of money! Instead, I got into it when nothing was moving but this year has really taken off!

When we moved to FL I was on a 2 year severance package and we were going back and forth from New York to FL alot so I wasn't looking for a job. I was however, watching a lot of HGTV and decided that Real Estate would be the perfect job because I love houses and decorating and I could not have a job where I was limited in time off. I have a daughter who is getting married and she needs her mama to be able to make lots of trips to NY to help her make plans. Such a hardship I know!
