I opted for the cortisone injection and both the doc and Steve agreed. If nothing else, the insurance will probably require that I try an alternative treatment to surgery. Can I tell you, that needle hurt like hell! Holy schmolly! I also received a very fashionable black ankle brace that needs to be worn with a sock. Oh yea, I will be stylin' with that look!
The GREAT news is that I lost 8.6 lbs. in 4 weeks. Now, I know some of you may be thinking that with everything going on in my life, that is not a surprise. I probably would think the same thing if I didn't know what crap I was eating for 3 of the 4 weeks. Carbs, carbs, carbs and more carbs with a little bit of fat and protein thrown in was the norm. Think about the food that people bring to your house during these times; cake, cookies, baked ziti, baked macaroni, rice cassaroles up the ying-yang and I ate it all! Thank you oh Great Band for limiting the quanity of the devils food that passed my lips. I can assure you, that was the only thing that saved me!
If nothing else positive comes out of this past month, it has confirmed for me that my band will help me to lose weight and keep it off. I mean, really, I can only imagine what I am capable of losing with Taz (my band) if I put my mind to it and add a little (or a lot) of exercise! Word! (Thats for Amy!)
On the fill front, I now have 2.6cc's in my 4cc band after a .8 fill today.

I love cortisone, worth the shot every time! Hope it provides some relief for you.
Yay Taz! It's nice to know that the band can help out when you're not even paying attention. It's better for me to be aware of what I'm eating, but sometimes life gets in the way.
Tell us how the fill is going?
I was 5 minutes away from appointment today with Dr. D and the office called to cancel, as he had an emergency surgery. I go back on the 23rd for a fill if I need one. Good on your weight loss! You only thought you'd lose 4 lbs!!
Nothing hurts like a cortisone shot. I had plantar's fasciaitis (sp) years ago and got a shot in my heel. It hurt like nothing I'd ever felt before.
Good news on the lbs. lost.
Word!
Cortisone was the best way to go! Hope it helps! I used to get injections in the knee and never felt a thing...maybe it is where the shot was in you foot. :(
Way to go on the weight loss! :)
Awww can Taz and Draz be friends? I'm happy you are happy - you deserve some smiles!
Ouch with the cortisone shot.. they hurt and burn like a mothaa!
ANd Yipee of the WL..all you have been through. I would definitely be up.. but yes that band is becoming our friend and helping us manage the eating part of life.. nice fill for you.. continued success and let the band rule WL!!
Oh man, I am sorry you had to get the cortisone injection. I had one a few weeks before my band surgery because the plantar fasciitis was so bad and I couldn't keep taking NSAID's. The injection burnt like hell, but it definitely gave me the relief I needed. I hope you get relief now too.
I hope the cortisone helps - I know it hurts but it's worth it. I get it in my foot for plantar fasciitis. Awesome news on your loss! 4 pounds a week kicks ass.
Awesome result....imagine going through all that without the band???? The damage that could have been done....hope the injection helps
I have had that nasty shot in my heels and my thumb joint! It makes me cry, but it does help. Hope you are feeling better soon! Great news on the weight loss!
That boot is really going to affect your tan lines! j/k
I hope the shot works for you, surgery would suck, but if you have to go that route so be it. Your're doing great!!
I hope the cortisone gives you some relief. Foot surgery would SUCK! I'm curious to hear how this second fill works out. I believe we both have 4cc bands and my 2nd fill made me WAY too tight and I had to have an un-fill. It has been better since, but I've had a few bad days. i can't imagine getting another fill anytime soon.
Sorry to hear about the cortisone shot! But I am glad to hear that you do not need surgery!
Congratulations on your loss! You are doing great!
