I started working with the trainer this week so maybe that is a part of the problem of not really seeing a bigger loss. I also went out last night and had pizza, popcorn and a chocolate bar which has not been my normal night time eating pattern. I've been tracking my calories and while I had the calories for these foods, and with the exception of the one slice of pizza, they were not healthy at all! I know what I have to do and that is to look forward and not even think about how I used to deal with these setbacks and that is to just throw in the towel and say "fuck it!". Nope, that is not an option!
I have a lot going on this week and while I will be able to get in my 4 cardio sessions, I will only be able to work with the trainer on 2 days. Her schedule and mine were not meshing this week. Hopefully I will be able to do at least some of the things she had me working on last week. I'll ask her what I should be doing without her and then we will get back to our 3 sessions the week after.
I am sure the fact that I started out with a lower BMI than a lot of others is also a factor in my slow weight loss. I have lost 21 lbs in 13 weeks which is roughly 1.6lbs. per week. I know that my doc says a 1 - 2 lb loss per week should be the expectation and I am falling right in the middle and that should make me feel better, but....you know how it is. I want it NOW, damn it! I also have a fill on Thursday so maybe that will help ramp it up a notch in the weight-loss department.
Sorry about my rant, I just needed to get this out.
On a better note...I am so excited about my daughter Mallory and her fiance coming next Saturday for 5 days! My niece will be with them but Elayna will be staying another 5 days after Mallory leaves.
I want to make this a very special trip for Elayna as it is the first time she is travelling without her parents (she is only 14) and this will be her first trip since her dad, my brother-in-law, died. My husband Steve is tripping over himself coming up with ideas to keep us all busy. He is getting tickets for us to see a local play company perform "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". Should be interesting!
I'm hoping for a few beach and shopping days as we all know that any 14year old girl loves the beach AND especially shopping. We are also planning a great 4th of July at the ocean where there will be a fireworks display and we'll have a nice dinner on the beach. Other things we have planned is a 3 hour boat tour, a trip to the Alligator Farm (although I seem to be the only one excited about this!), going to the new movie theater that just opened (we saw Knight and Day with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz last night) and than doing whatever else she wants to do!
My girls are 23 and 19 so I shouldn't get too wiped out by being with a 14 y/o...famous last words, huh? Actually, my husband is the one who needs to be worried! No matter what, we will have fun and be making memories, that is what life is all about!

Jacquie, You KNOW that I am in the same boat! I've been with my trainer for almost two months now and am still losing about 1.5 pounds a week. I have little to no restriction and am making the right choices but as we all know, the willpower fades at some point and you just want this band to start doing its job. I think we're in the same boat -- lower BMI than most, slow loss. We should take comfort in that there are two of us!
We all have these tough times, but you know that you will get through it and those pounds will start to drop, especially if you keep up the workouts. I am stalled as well, but I am just going to exercise my way through it! We aren't the old people we used to be, we won't give in and we WILL lose weight with the band!
Hang in there Jacquie...this too shall pass and then there will be a stretch with an easy 5 pound loss...then a hard 5 and then an easy 5.
Just keep doing what you're doing and concentrate on this great visit you have coming very soon.
Ok, Jacquie...You are in the exact same boat I was in 2 weeks ago. I started the challenge, then gained 5 lbs due to my weight training. I'd lose a lb, then gain one...Up and down and I was SO frustrated. I went to see dr. D on Wed. and weighed 233 on his scale. The next morning, I was 228. Yes, i lost those 5 lbs in one day, because my body finally flushed all the fluids my muscles had been retaining. The same will happen for you!!! Just keep the faith. I knwo you can do this!!
I think the realization that this is a life long journey has to set in at some time. I personally think 1.6 lbs a week is great and that is primarily what I have been doing. I've lost a few pounds in the last couple weeks but I fully expect not to lose as much this next week. I haven't started weight training and I plan to do that in the next week so it will be interesting to see if the same thing happens to me!
I know it's hard when you see so many other LARGER bloggers losing weight faster, but 1.6 lbs is awesome. I have a 14 year old daughter and she is so great. You're going to have a blast with your niece. Especially with all the fun things you have planned.
Jacquie - I know how frustrating it must be, but you are doing great...while it is nice you have less to lose, I timing is probably tough...but you should be so proud of yourself!! You are getting to the gym, doing a trainer, etc. I am so impressed!!! I am really looking forward to reading through your blog and following your journey!
Hi Jacquie--Thanks for joining my blog- Yes I agree with you and many of your followers that this is a slow ride. Good luck with your fill and have fun with your company!
Your average WL is about exactly where mine fell for almost the whole journey...so chin up...we low BMIers also have greater odds of getting a better percentage off than the average, so there's the upside...it may be slow, but it's all good!!! Have fun with your niece...might I recommend a trip to the craft store if you have down time...there's lots of jewlery making kits or other things she might like!
Jacquie, you're doing great. I feel the same way, I want to see huge losses, but at our age, it doesn't come off as fast as it used to either. Hang in there!
You were banded one month after me and just this last month I feel like I have good restriction. It's amazing how much better it is when you are at your "sweet spot". A month ago I was throwing the same party. Hang in there chica!
Have fun with your niece! My sister is 15 and I love the excuse to do all the things I wouldn't normally do as a "grown-up" :)
You WILL get through this. This WILL work for you. We all have that feeling. But you are right, your BMI was lower so your weight loss will be slower. That is super frustrating, but the plus side is you won't have to deal with saggy skin! We will be here for you every step of the way!!
I think your plans sound like so much fun! You niece is going to have a blast!!
1.6 lbs a week is AMAZING!! Don't get down, it's coming off, but sometimes we plateau for a while. :)
Hey I just found your blog through Stephanie. I live in Orlando and was banded a day before you. It sounds like you are struggling on a plateau.... I hope you get off that plateau soon. i look forward to continuing to follow your journey and check mine out too when you get the chance. *Maria*-Blogger from "This one time at Band Camp..." mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com
